Youth/Teen Programs occur concurrently with the
Adult Program. They focus on identifying issues
that the children present, and helping the families
find constructive resolutions for these issues.
They also provides the following enrichment and
recreational activities for children:
Hot Lunch Program provides a
nutritious meal at each monthly support meeting.
This program has proven to help the children to
concentrate and better participate in the Child
Development Programs.
Tutoring: with education as
a major focus of the organization, tutors from
Boston Cares, students from the Winsor School,
Boston, and soon to be volunteers from the Noble
and Greenough School, Dedham, assist the children
with their learning needs and homework studies.
Health and Wellness Program uses a certified trainer and nutritionist to educate
and help families develop individualized health
and fitness plans.
Child Development Programs: both the Youth and Teen Program focus on identifying
issues the children have and helping the families
to find ways to effectively handle the issues.
Each program also provides enjoyable activities
for the children. The Child Development Programs
occur concurrently with the Parent Support Program.
Youth Banking/Money Management Program: A passbook saving account is opened for each child
who is a member in good standing of the Child
Development Program. The program teaches the child
money management skills.
Academic Incentive Award Program rewards children for academic achievement / improvement and good citizenship.
Summer Camp Scholarships provide
positive and enriching summer experience for our
youth.
Back to School Project provides
age and grade appropriate school supplies and
backpacks for each child.
Winter Coat Project provides
new, warm, winter coats for children in need.
Christmas Gift Giving Party includes the distribution of toys, gifts, food
baskets and clothes individualized to the families
along with a Christmas banquet and celebration.
Last year’s Christmas Party provided toys,
gifts, and clothes to over 100 children.
Monthly Birthday Celebrations recognizes the worth and value of each individual.
Annual Picnic provides an opportunity
for SPFO’s parents and their children, staff,
donors, and friends to come together for a fun,
social event.
Recreational Trips designed
for adults, children and families, provide enriching
activities and take members beyond their neighborhood.
All services are provided without cost or
obligation to the families within a caring environment.
All group activities are provided by the volunteer
services of the seven founding officers along
with 23 other support volunteers.
